Minimum Credit Hours (MCH) |
|
In order to quantitatively monitor progress toward completing a degree in a prescribed amount of time, a measure of annual progress has been established. Full-time undergraduate students must earn 12 credit hours per quarter to meet this standard, while full-time graduate students must earn nine credit hours per quarter to meet this standard.
In order to resolve a minimum credit hour (MCH) deficiency, a student must attempt and successfully earn more than the minimum credit hours required for their enrollment status. Hours earned above or below those minimums are reflected as positive or negative numbers, respectively, when SAP is calculated annually after the spring quarter. If a student has been enrolled for more than one year, the MCH score represents a cumulative standing. The MCH for an undergraduate based on enrollment status are as follows:
For a graduate student, the minimum credit hours required are as follows:
Students who enroll for less than the minimum number of credit hours for half-time enrollment (six hours for undergraduates, 5 hours for graduates) will be monitored using the actual number of hours enrolled for that quarter. Proper withdrawal from classes prior to the 14th day of enrollment will not influence MCH. Please note: attempted hours after the 14th day of enrollment are counted even if the student is approved for a partial or complete withdrawal from courses. |
